1986 Jaguar XJS, V12, a true Barn Find, with less than 22K on the clock.
My final attempt to find a new home with an Opponaut for this car before it goes on Ebay. I promise you’ll never see
me
posting this car here after this. We learned a lot from your comments the first time I put it here before you, and all comments were appreciated. Thanks!
My brother-in-law came across the vehicle last October in an actual barn owned by one of his clients, and took the car as partial payment for the job he was doing. Read his descriptions , below, in quotes.
“Overall in good shape, strong V12 motor, under 22k miles, new brake pads front and rear, new brake fluid, oil and filter change, new battery,
fuel tank was removed and cleaned, new fuel filters, floor liners and floor mats are new, AC was charged and works.”
“Wiper motor is not working, needs a head liner (very inexpensive and easy, $50.00) radio needs a fuse (somewhere) power antenna needs a grommet,
aftermarket electric sunroof operates well but does have a slight water leak, (cheap fix, some work is involved) Blown tranny (3 speed GM HT 400).”
“When the car was running it ran strong and turned heads, the tranny is a very common and durable one made by GM. Because the car sat so long the parts of the tranny that were sitting in the tranny fluid all that time softened, weakened, and failed, and now it slips and is unreliable for any length of a journey.” Leather interior.
This is the extent of rust on this Jaguar. It does not appear to have perforated the sheet metal yet, so it should be taken care of right away.
Other small areas of “damage” are shown below.
From left to right: Minor scuff on rear bumper, slight scratch on sail panel,
adhesive residue over two wheel arches, from after-market wheel trim that came with the car, but was immediately removed.
Also, please note, the headliner was in tatters after sitting for so long, so a temporary panel was cut out of thin plywood and covered in cloth, see photo, above.
There is a very minor ding on the hood, which is very hard to photograph, but in the interest of full disclosure, it’s right there.
The Jaguar passed inspection as soon as it was made road-worthy again, after sitting for a couple of decades, that’s pretty good!
And, of course, a peek under the front and rear lids. 12 Cylinders of purring Jaguar! And a clean frunk to boot!
Somehow, I managed to take photos of only 3 tires, but they are all in the same condition. I’ll get 4 shots the next time I go to the yard.
And , I can send larger copies of any of these images upon request, as well as taking new photographs of any other detail(s) you’d like to see.
This Beautiful 12 Cylinder Jaguar is offered here for a short time, and then it will be listed on ebay. If listed, it will START bidding at $3K.
Until then any serious offers
below
that figure will be considered
The car is currently located in Westchester County, New York. If you want to come inspect the car yourself, bring any equipment you’d like, this car will pass every test.
And, if you are REALLY serious about this Jaguar...bring a trailer. You can’t test drive it due to the transmission, but you can perform ANY other test on it.
(Except the transmission, of course...) And, as mentioned above, you can request any additional photos of any detail you’d like to inspect closer.
If you are not local, you can find plenty of high-end automobile dealerships in the area, and make arrangements for a qualified mechanic to come and inspect it for you.
Thanks for your patience, fellow Opponauts. This will be the last time you see this here.
Please bear in mind, it’s $3K,
or best offer.
I’m really trying to do two things with this final post: to help my BIL sell it, and, to avoid dealing with what will come after it goes on the bay, as in - every looky-lou with questions, appointments to see the car resulting in no-shows, bids with no intent to buy, etc.,
It is a step up from Craigs List, however...

This is where I wish I had more disposable income....
Plane ticket
Cab fare to Uhaul
Rental Uhaul pickup
Craigslist/Junkyard TH350
Floor jack/tools
Trans swap the Jag and road trip home.
That would be a fantastic adventure.
